Mark Cuban’s Crypto Drained 🤯 Even the Big Fish Fall for Scams
Last week, Vitalik’sTwitter (X) got hacked, and this week, we have Mark Cuban, yep, the Shark Tank guy, who lost thousands after getting hacked. It really makes you wonder…who is safe?
What happened?
After months of inactivity, Cuban’s crypto return ended in a scam, causing him to lose $870,000 across various cryptocurrencies. He did manage to safeguard his holdings on Polygon, but several other assets, including stablecoins, Lido-staked ETH, SuperRare, and ENStokens, were drained.
🕵️♀️ WazzCrypto, an on-chain investigator, spotted an unusual activity in Cuban's wallet, which had been dormant for 160 days.
The Metamask Mix-Up 🦊
Looks like Cuban had a little hiccup with MetaMask. While looking up info on Circle, he accidentally downloaded a fakeversionofMetaMask. His description of the app? It "had shit in it."
The hack, however, was short-lived as the public nature of blockchain transactions allowed analysts to detect the scam swiftly.

It’s clear that no one is safe from hackers. Your assets are safe in your own hands. Here are 5 ways to protect your crypto wallet from getting hacked.
🎣 Beware of Phishing: Hackers often create fake sites or emails that resemble the real ones. Or, as in this case, a whole fraud app. Always double-check the website's URL to ensure you're in the correct place.
🔒 SSL Certificate: Ensure the site you're visiting has an SSL certificate (look for the padlock sign at the top left of the link tab). This means the details you input are encrypted.
🤨 Avoid Suspicious Links: Never click on links from unknown sources. They might lead you to fishy sites.
📲 Regularly Update Software: Keep your wallet software updated to have all the latest security benefits.
🔑 Use Strong, Unique Passwords: Avoid using your date of birth as your password! Opt for a combination of letters, numbers, and symbols; make it hard to crack and keep it written down physically for yourself.
Also, do not dowload something just because it “has shit in it”, make sure the shit is actually right and legal. 🧐

Coinbase's layer-2 network, Base, recently celebrated a new record in daily transactions.
💡 Layer 2 refers to a secondaryframework or protocol that is built on top of an existingblockchainsystem. The main goal of these protocols is to solve the transactionspeed and scalingdifficulties that are being faced by the major cryptocurrency networks.🛠
🗓 September 14th: Base network’s 1.88 million transactions surpassed the combined transactions of Optimism and Arbitrum for the day.
📊 In the line: Base had its moment but is still behind the big players. Polygon recorded 2.1 million transactions, and BNB Smart Chain 3.1 million on the same day.
📉 Active Users: Despite the surge in transactions, Base Network saw fewer daily active users compared to August—a drop from 136,000 in August to around 86,000 on September 14th.
